Chiefs WR involved in investigation for alleged battery

Kansas City Chiefs all-pro receiver Tyreek Hill is involved in an investigation by the Overland Park (Kan.) Police Department concerning an alleged battery in which the incident report lists a juvenile as the victim.

“The club is aware of the investigation involving Tyreek Hill,” the Chiefs said Friday in a statement sent to USA TODAY Sports. “We are in the process of gathering information and have been in contact with the league and local authorities. We will have no further comment at this time.”

According to an incident report obtained by USA TODAY Sports, Hill’s fiancée is listed under a tab labeled “OTHERS INVOLVED.” Hill has not been arrested or charged with any crime.

The report lists the incidence taking place at a single residence in Overland Park, Kansas. The Athletic reported that the address listed in the report is Hill’s residence. The report was made Thursday but does not list a time at which the alleged incident took place.

The Kansas City Star reported that the alleged incident was against the couple’s son.

Television station KCTV5 also published a March 5 police report regarding a child abuse/neglect incident in which both Hill and his fiancée are named in the “OTHERS INVOLVED” section.

At the bottom of that report, the status is “Closed/cleared” with a reason listed as “prosecution declined.”

In Dec. 2014, Hill allegedly choked and punched his now-fiancée while he was a student at Oklahoma State University. The program eventually dismissed him from the football team, and he pleaded guilty in August 2015 to domestic violence and battery by strangulation.

After Hill completed a three-year probationary period, the conviction was dismissed from his record in August 2018.

Hill, 25, had a breakout campaign in 2018 for the Chiefs, catching 87 passes for 1,479 yards and 12 touchdowns. He added one rushing score and one punt return touchdown.
